Dr. Bobs Adventure

We've created this blog for several reasons. First is to keep family and friends(including Bobs' pts.)informed of Bobs' condition while he undergoes treatment for Acute Myelogenous Leukemia(AML) at HUP. You may also write to Bob by posting a comment, which I'll print for him to read. Please feel free to pass this blog site on to anyone you think may want to join us.Instructions to blog are listed under day 12, and bobs' address etc are under day 14. Click on April Archives to find both.

Just an update

Good morning,

First I want to apologize for not writing in so long. I did think Bob was going to write yesterday, but apparently he never got around to it. Thursdays' counts were all holding steady, so the last time he had a transfusion was 5/26. There's been no word on the BMB, and Bob will call on Monday to see what's what with that. The only major troubles for Bob are still orthopedic in nature....the neck strain and his knee locking are still a real pain....literally. He is off codeine, but is taking a muscle relaxant, which he than needs to take a very strong laxative for. But I'd have to say at least he's slept the last 2 nights, and that's something. My cold is much better...just a little cough left, but I've been on ABX's for 4 days now, so we do not have to Ricky and Lucy it anymore.

I'd like to write more and shout out to a few of you'all, but himself is waiting on the computer, to get online to a game he plays with Matt and Mandi. So I'll close here, thanking everyone for their tireless support, and asking for your prayers.

All our love,
Bob and Mo

Greetings Bob and Mo -

Glad to hear that the counts are holding steady and that the cold is getting better.

A little disappointed that you both aren't in Namibia standing in as godparents for little Shiloh Nouvel. (lol mdf)

Although, I can certainly understand your reluctance to travel all that way given Bob's ortho discomfort. Which I hope is feeling better today BTW.

I wonder if the weather is playing a part in your neck strain and knee? I know I find myself with a gimpy shoulder and doing a little bit of an achy-breaky walk with this rain and nastiness. Funny, how that works, huh?

Anyways, I am thinking and praying for you guys. Fingers crossed on the bmb too..

All my best - K

PS: mdf - We're anxiously awaiting the results of the hot air balloon experiment! Do tell.

Nothing like father and son video game communication, will Matt let Bob win for Father's Day? Glad you are feeling better Mo. Hope it continues. You do need to rest to get rid of the cough and I suspect you are months behind your quota. Take care and hope to see you guys soon.

If i could swear on this, i would.. that damn hot air balloon project not only continued in my garage last night, but at one point when i went out for my 5 min checks(mind you, i have a fear of fire, and they aredoing this in the garage..don't worry about the gas line mom, or the car.. it won't fly over to the lawn mower) one of the boys had decided to try ot make hydrochloric gas.. well, he mixed hydrochloric acid with aluminum foil in a gatorade bottle!! The whole garage filled with smoke..they all ran out (mind you, these are all honor students) and decided it was a good time to go to In and OUt for dinner.. that is when i basically put the kabash on this project!! They had spent about 9 hrs total on, so at school today they have one more option .. its there final grade... so there you have the hot air balloon
Hey, saw on some entertainment show that Nouvelle even has gotten a 17,000 dollar pacifier..crazy..
Dr. Mazz..hope your feeling better everyday.. keeping you in my prayers.. ttyl.. mdf.. ps.. 2 more days of school.. yeah..

Hey Bob and Mo -

Just checking in to let you guys that I am thinking about you both. Hope today is a good day for you both. Firing up the prayermobile for Debbie's stem cells, is there anything you'd like me to add to the list? I was thinking maybe successful clinical trials with your new med?

mdf - you crack me up! Glad to hear the boys completed their science project without blowing up the garage. Sorry, it took 10 years off your life! I seem to recall that Bill Gates got his start in his parent's garage - maybe your boys (or the genius with the HCL acid) will turn out to be the next Bill Gates??? Should I add that request to my prayer string for ya?
(hah-hah)

Love you guys - K
