Dr. Bobs Adventure

We've created this blog for several reasons. First is to keep family and friends(including Bobs' pts.)informed of Bobs' condition while he undergoes treatment for Acute Myelogenous Leukemia(AML) at HUP. You may also write to Bob by posting a comment, which I'll print for him to read. Please feel free to pass this blog site on to anyone you think may want to join us.Instructions to blog are listed under day 12, and bobs' address etc are under day 14. Click on April Archives to find both.

Home again

Hello friends and family,

Bob is home. We didn't get in until 6p, but better late than later. His PICC line is in and he'll be getting IV abx for 10 more days. Our nurse Nicole told us today not to expect this line to last very long, so I'm guessing Bob will end up with another Hickman at some point. Wbc's and platelet counts are still lower than pre-hosp., but the hgb was up to 10.9! Dr. Luger stopped in today and told us that the BMB from 2 weeks ago was "as good as the last one". We asked about consolidation chemo, but she said we have to discuss other options. We were due to see her tomorrow, but that has been rescheduled. So for now we're doing the wait and see plan. Bob feels okay. He's bothered again with neck discomfort, and had x-rays done at CMMC last Wed. Depending on what they show, and if his counts come back to snuff, he'd like to get PT for his neck. I said I'll join him and get it for my shoulder, since I've never really taken care of that properly.

I'd love to stay and chat, but I've got a bed to make, as I ripped the sheets off this am before I left. Well, just got back from several phone calls, so this is just getting posted at 9:30p. Talk to you all soon. Thank you for all the calls, blogs and prayers. Your support means everything to us. Bob also sends out a big HI and thank you, and he'll try to blog soon.

Our love to you all,
Bob and Mo

yahooo, first one to send you a big welcome home kiss and hug, albeit virtual. fresh sheets on your own bed surely trump a virtual smooch though. have a cozy night, welcome home.xoxoxkm

Hey Dr Bob and Ms Mo-

Been somewhat out of the loop with my travel schedule and pc problems but glad to hear that you are home now, Dr. Bob. Hearing that your hgb is up to 10.9 is fantastic, too. Way to go!

We're here in Kansas City for another few days. It's a great town with lots of things to see and do although it's going to be a hot and muggy one today. Mr. Marvin is going out to Lawrence on bizness and I think I am going to hit the Hallmark Museum and get my photo taken with Maxine(!)That should be something to see... After that I thought I would check out Halls, the upscale department store owned by - you guessed it, Hallmark.

We should be back in NJ sometime next week and look forward to seeing you over at the Teklitses or down at HUP.

Good luck with your abx course and stay well.

Cheers - K

Hi Dr. Bob and Mo--
I too have been somewhat out of the blogging loop, but unlike Kris, I do not have a good reason--wish I coulc say that I was traveling around the USA. Been busy trying to paint my living room (after interior decoration advice from Debbie and Marion), been busy running teenagers to their jobs (at least they're working)and actually have gotten to spend some time with Debbie, so she has updated me on Bob's progress. Glad to hear that he is home--as it should be.

Mo--I think the message is--You should not work! First day back and Bob goes back in the hospital!

Stay well, stay in remission, and stay out of the hospital! Drink more cosmos!--and eat pond cake!

MDF,

Are you kidding me or being your usual wisea$$ self....tonight I made "gourmet" hamburgers, baked beans, and potato chips with onion dip(the real thing though, made w/ Liptons' soup mix). And even though he would've slept on the mattress pad, I'm way too OCD to ever do that, so yes the sheets were on the bed. As you can see from the first blog....my real friend Kathi Moore didn't even have to ask that nasty question.

But hey, thanks for writing. And btw, who is Kim anyway?

Checking in again, Dr. Bob. Hope things are going okay and that you are preparing yourself for some of Meg's Irish Lasagna.

I would like to hear more about that Friday night fun business!

Have a good day guys!

mo, it seems that miss mdf has slept on a mattress pad or two in her career, perhaps she was too busy with the bissell to get the fresh as springtime sheets on the bed. xoxoxo
